The Aston Martin Vanquish

I know I start a lot of what I say by declaring my love for a car, but there’s just something about an Aston that tickles me in ways I didn’t think I could be tickled.

The New One 👀

The Aston Martin Vanquish, first released in 2001, was the flagship grand tourer that redefined Aston Martin’s identity in the modern era. Combining stunning design, hand-built craftsmanship, and thrilling performance, the Vanquish earned its place as a British automotive icon

Under the bonnet was a 5.9L naturally aspirated V12, producing 460hp and 542Nm of torque in the original model. This allowed the Vanquish to hit 0-60 mph in 4.5 seconds and a top speed of 190 mph. The engine was paired with an advanced (for the time) 6-speed automated manual transmission, though its clunky nature divided opinions among enthusiasts.

In 2004, Aston Martin introduced the Vanquish S, upping the power to 520hp and pushing the top speed beyond 200 mph, making it the fastest Aston Martin of its time.

The Vanquish gained global fame as James Bond’s car in Die Another Day (2002). Dubbed the "Vanish" in the film, it featured an array of spy gadgets, including cloaking technology—pure Hollywood fantasy, of course 👀

The first-generation Vanquish is now a coveted modern classic, with prices ranging from £60,000 to over £150,000, depending on the model and condition. Its successor, the second-generation Vanquish (2012–2018), continued the legacy with modern updates but retained the soul of the original.
