The Porsche 911 GT3 RS (992)

In a list of my top 10 cars, this sits in a firm 4th. Weirdly enough, it sits beneath the 911 Turbo S because, to me, a car is so much more enjoyable when it’s easy to drive on the road. Porsche are undoubtedly at the pinnacle of automotive engineering right now, but I wouldn’t want to drive one of these every day. A warm welcome to the Porsche 911 GT3 RS (992):

Ripping round the track - what this car was born to do

The ultimate expression of Porsche’s track-bred engineering, this car isn’t just a high-performance machine—it’s practically a road-legal race car!

Behind your head in the GT3 RS lies a 4.0L naturally aspirated flat-six, producing 518hp and revving all the way to 9,000 RPM. Mated to a 7-speed PDK gearbox, it rockets from 0-60 mph in 3.0 seconds and tops out at 184 mph. But speed isn’t the whole story—it’s how this car handles that sets it apart.

This beast is an aerodynamical masterpiece, featuring:

  • Active Aero: Adjustable front and rear wings, creating up to 859kg of downforce at 177 mph—more than twice that of the previous GT3 RS.

  • Drag Reduction System (DRS): Inspired by Formula 1, the DRS allows the driver to adjust the aero setup on the fly for maximum speed on straights.

  • Air Management: Functional vents, scoops, and channels guide air for cooling and stability. Even the suspension components are shaped for aerodynamic efficiency.

Speaking of, the suspension is optimised for track use, with double wishbones at the front and advanced damping for razor-sharp handling. The car is wider, lower, and stiffer than ever before, providing unmatched grip and cornering capability.

Weighing in at 1,450 kg, it uses lightweight materials like carbon fibre for the roof, doors, and even anti-roll bars. For those chasing perfection, the Weissach Package reduces weight further with even more carbon fibre and magnesium wheels.

Inside, it’s all business: lightweight bucket seats, Alcantara surfaces, and a track-focused Race-Tex steering wheel. Porsche’s Track Precision app integrates with the car, letting drivers analyse lap data in real-time.

And yes, it does indeed have space for your zesty drinks!

In the UK, a brand new GT3 RS starts out at around £178,000. That is, if you’re lucky enough to get an allocation. Options can easily extend the price into the £200,000s, with just the Weissach package alone costing over £25,000!!!

Now? The cheapest 992 GT3 RS I could find on AutoTrader costs approximately 2 lungs and a kidney - £264,000! And someone’s already enjoyed over 6,000 miles of it! It doesn’t stop there - spec is a big game with these cars and there are examples touching £300,000!!! USED!!!

These cars are in such high demand, and such low supply (Porsche won’t sell you one) that overs were easily in excess of £100,000 when they were brand brand new…

100% a car I would love to own though - it’s every BMW fan’s next move, isn’t it?

If you guessed correctly, a gold star for you as normal! ⭐️

Hopefully you can guess tomorrow’s car right 👀

See you then, 6am sharp!

Love,

Angus
