The BMW 7 Series
I love BMW. Anyone who knows me, knows that fact. I’m a sucker for an M car in particular, so that’s why today’s Car Of The Day is nothing to do with the M range - so let’s talk about the longest car they make…
My kinda boat, the 760Li V12
The BMW 7 Series: the luxury sedan that’s been the benchmark for high-end comfort and cutting-edge technology since its debut in 1977. Over the decades, it’s been the go-to car for those who want their luxury with a side of driving pleasure, and it’s stayed ahead of the game with its bold designs and innovations.
The 7 Series isn’t just about being chauffeured; it’s also a joy to drive, (again, according to the interweb). Take the E38 generation (1994–2001), for example. It came with everything from buttery-smooth inline-sixes to powerful V12s. James Bond even drove one in Tomorrow Never Dies—controlled by a phone, no less. Now that’s cool.
By the time the G11 generation arrived in 2015, the 7 Series was pushing boundaries with its carbon core chassis, combining luxury with lightweight construction for better handling and efficiency.
The 7 Series has always been where BMW showcases its newest tech. It was the first to feature the iDrive system in the E65 generation (2001–2008), which, love it or (most people) hate it, changed how we interact with cars forever.
The latest models even have a theatre screen for rear passengers and gesture controls for infotainment. Looks a bit silly when you’re looking like Harry Potter trying to turn the volume up, but nonetheless, it’s like a spaceship on wheels.
The E38 7 Series was the first European car to offer side airbags, setting a safety standard.
The 7 Series has been a favorite among world leaders, often modified with bulletproof glass and armor for extra security.
The BMW 7 Series isn’t just a car; it’s an icon of luxury and innovation. It’s the car you buy when you want to arrive in style—and still enjoy the drive home. What’s your favorite generation of the 7 Series? Let’s talk!
I’m sure you know by now that you’ve earned a gold star for guessing correctly, but it’s time to see who’s REALLY in the loop 👀
So, what do you think tomorrow's COTD will be? ⭐️ |
Anyway, see you tomorrow, 6am sharp!
