The Porsche Carrera GT

You know, the Porsche Carrera GT isn’t just another supercar — it’s the supercar. Launched in 2003, it was Porsche taking a race car they never finished and turning it into something we could actually drive on the road. Well, "drive" might be generous—this thing demands respect. One mistake, and it’ll bite you, they say… and proved…

RIP Paul Walker.

Unlike Any Other

Under the bonnet (well, behind your head), there’s a 5.7L V10 paired with a proper gearbox. Get this — it wasn’t even meant for a road car. It was supposed to go into Porsche’s Le Mans prototype.

When that project was scrapped, they thought, "Why not put it in a road car?" And thank god they did. It makes 603hp, revs to 8,400 RPM, and sounds like nothing else on the planet. Seriously, you have to hear it to believe it.

0-60 in 3.5 seconds and a top speed of 205 mph - wild for something from 2003, right?

The Carrera GT isn’t one of those modern supercars that makes you look good no matter what. You’ve got to earn it. That ceramic clutch? It’s famous for being tricky. But when you get it right, the rewards are massive.

The carbon fiber monocoque and crazy aerodynamics make it feel like a race car on the road. But trust me, it’s not forgiving—plenty of people have found that out the hard way.

And just look at it. Low, wide, and with those iconic humps behind the seats—it’s pure Porsche. Inside, it’s all business: carbon everywhere, a minimalist layout, and that beechwood gear knob. Yep, wood—Porsche says it’s a nod to their old racing cars. Who else would think of that?

Back in 2003, when I was merely a toddler, 1,270 CGTs were produced.

If you were rich and lucky, you got your spot secured for one. £330,000 later, and you were driving away in this crazy machine.

Now? You’d need to pay the equivalent of one arm, and one leg to get one. Prices START at over £900,000!!!

What do you think about the Carerra GT? Let me know by replying! 👀

If you guessed today’s car correctly, here’s your gold star: ⭐️

As always, I shall see you tomorrow… expect a legend just as cool as the CGT… in my mind.

Love,

Angus
